Dr. Tinenenji Banda

Dr. Tinenenji Banda is a Zambian national who holds a Doctor of Science in Laws degree from the University of Cornell Law School. She is a legal research scholar and dual-qualified legal practitioner with expertise in mining law, community based natural resource management, international investment law and access to justice; solid experience in designing and executing qualitative research protocols. She is a Lecturer, School of Law University of Zambia, Lusaka, in Legal Process, Legal writing, Commercial Law I & II, International Investment Law, Refugee Law. She is also a Research Fellow and Associate Director – Legal, Southern African Institute for Policy and Research (SAIPAR) where she manages SAIPAR’s law programs and supervises legal research projects.

She has played a key role in various research and contributed knowledge in the following areas: Value Works: Effects of Financialization along the Copper Value Chain (Zambia, Switzerland, China); Analysis of policy and legal frameworks governing Environmental Natural Resource Management (ENRM) and Community Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) in Zambia October 2016 – December 2016. Drafting of Juta Pocket Companion Book on Mining Law in Zambia, Court Efficiency in Zambia, 2016-2018  Domestic Violence Response in Tompkins County, New York; the production of Zambia’s first ever handbook on juvenile law, the Zambian Juvenile law Handbook.

She is an Associate Editor, Southern African Journal for Policy and Development (SAJPD) and a Member of Law Association of Zambia
