Dr. Fanwell Kenala Bokosi, AFRODAD’s Executive Director, represented AFRODAD at the Expert Consultation on...

“Development of Guiding Principles-Human Rights Impacts Assessments of economic reform policies” which took place on 2nd and 3rd July 2018 in Geneva Switzerland.

Its recent resolutions (34/03 and 37/11), the human rights council requested the independent Expert on foreign debt, finance and human right, Juan Pablo Bohoslavsky, to develop guiding principles for Human Rights impact for economic reforms policies, in consultation with States, international financial institutions, and other relevant stakeholders.

The independent experts sees the development of the Guiding Principles as a multilayered process and a crucial opportunity for a diverse group of states and stakeholders to delve into the impacts, the lessons learnt, the commonalities, and the limitations of human rights impacts assessments.

This expert consultation was the second expert meeting of its kind and it provided experts from different regions of the world with the opportunity to input their expertise and experience to the development of the Guiding Principles.
