The third edition of the African Conference on Debt and Development (AfCoDD III) will take place from the 30th of August to the 1st of September 2023, in Dakar, Senegal.

Since 2021, AfCoDD continues to bring together political, technical, and civic leaders from Africa to deliberate and agree on commitments that safeguard the macroeconomic sustainability of the continent towards achieving the structural transformation espoused in Agenda 2063.  Indeed, Africa’s development process and structural transformation needs ambitious actions and finance beyond current limitations.

Therefore, and following the successful AfCoDD I that sought to” galvanise and mobilise a concerted African approach to addressing the current debt crisis” and AfCoDD II under the theme “From Recovery to Reform”, AfCoDD III will focus on “Reimagining, Rethinking, Reorganising, and Remobilising for an African World Order”. These are 4Rs of the Rule Maker that can be broken down as follows:

  • Reimagine (Who is Africa when she makes the rules)?
  • Rethink (Where is Africa without dependency on the Neo-Liberal Economic and Political Order)?
  • Reorganise (What happens when the African States comes together)?
  • Remobilise (Why must Africa care about the poly-crisis)?
