The Executive Director’s Office

Merlene Amonde holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from The University of Nairobi and is currently pursuing her Postgraduate Diploma in Law at The Kenya School of Law. Her current placement is with The Executive Director’s Office. 

Prior to joining AFRODAD, Merlene was a legal fellow at the International Lawyers Project. She has also worked with The Africa Center for Energy Policy, where she was keen to understand the extractive sector, domestic resource mobilisation efforts, energy law and natural resource governance. 

Merlene has an appreciation of fiscal law, international taxation and illicit financial flows, and public finance management owing to her exposure at The Committee on Fiscal Studies where she was a junior researcher for 3 years. Through her work with AFRODAD Merlene is practically exposed to her interest in International Economic Law, International Financial Institutions and Sustainable Financing for Growth and Development. 

Merlene is a vibrant Global Shaper at the Nairobi Hub where she is keen on working with marginalised communities under the Refugee /Rights Pillar.
