OBJECTIVES OF THE CONFERENCE

• To provide a platform for honest discussion among all relevant stakeholders on tangible solutions and policy alternatives for dealing with public debt in Malawi.
• To allow the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs to provide updates and feedback to the stakeholders on the current debt status and the actions/initiatives being taken to retire the debt through the implementation of the Debt Retirement Fund
• To profile the effects of huge public debt servicing on the vulnerable members of the Malawi Society.
• To launch a Debt Cancellation Campaign
• To examine the legal and institutional frameworks on public debt contraction and management in Malawi.
