Executive Director’s office

John Oduk is a graduate of Strathmore University in Nairobi, Kenya with a Bachelor of Business Science, in Financial Economics. He currently works with AFRODAD as the Policy Assistant in the Executive Director’s office. 

Prior to this, John worked with The Institute for Social Accountability (TISA), one of AFRODAD’s national partners in Kenya, where he undertook policy research, analysis, and advocacy under the Fiscal Decentralisation Programme. In this role, he helped in reviewing research studies done and was also the lead researcher for a study on Reforms on Special Drawing Rights focusing on the Kenyan experience. He was also part of the second cohort of interns at AFRODAD where he interned in the Executive Director’s office.

John has also previously had experience in project management and monitoring and evaluation having previously worked with CAS Consultants, a road construction consulting firm as a Laboratory Assistant in charge of materials data analysis, collecting and reporting laboratory test results and supervision of work done by the contractor.

At a personal level, John is very passionate about sustainable socioeconomic development, and his goal is to use his experience in policy research and analysis to come up with just and sustainable solutions to socioeconomic issues affecting the continent and beyond. This passion was ignited by his involvement with Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA), as a volunteer during their Pan African Conference on Illicit Financial Flows in 2017 and 2018 while still undertaking his undergraduate degree.
