AFRODAD is hosting a webinar to discuss and validate a briefing paper titled “Debt Implications on Trade Finance in Africa”. The meeting will aim at discussing the findings of the briefing paper on assessing the impacts of debt on trade finance in Africa”. The purpose is to strengthen the evidence base and deepen understanding on the economic, social and political policy impacts of debt on trade finance in the region. This will help in increasing awareness and influence reform on sustainability and suitability of trade finance mechanisms that African countries ought to adopt for the recovery.

The specific objectives are to:

  1. Interrogate the debt implications on trade finance in Africa.
  2. The role of the free trade areas in debt management in the region.
  3. Examine the role and impact of trade and investment regimes between African countries and their North-South or South-South partners.
  4. To proffer policy recommendations that influences reforms in trade finance arrangements.
